Friendly workplace, Happy workplace

High-performance workplaces are seen as leading to financial and market performance through improvements in production efficiency. This leads to higher levels of job security and job satisfaction. Because of this, the workplace has greater organizational citizenship behavior.

Having friends within the workplace is beneficial to everyone. Not only does it benefit the mutual friends involved, but it benefits the teamwork aspect, and any other departments that work with them. However, although close friends may work together great when things are great, if a non-business personal issue rises between them, the workplace will suffer. That is why it is so crucial that management manages the human aspect within the workforce, and ensures personal problems stay at home.

If management properly manages the human aspect of their employees, friendships within the workforce will create a pleasant working environment for everyone. Obviously, the best situation for your department is to have a “working friendship”. A “working friendship” is one where the employees are friends at work, but have minimal contact outside of work, thus, eliminating external personal influence on the working environment. Having a friendly working environment encourages communication within the workplace, both inter-departmental and cross-departmental communication, as well as teamwork at the employee level, and the departmental level. And once again, it is the management’s responsibility to ensure these objectives are not only achieved but sustained, in order to ensure an ongoing productive and happy workplace.

The bottom line is, a happy workplace is a productive workplace. And friendships make the workplace a happy place. Management must be aware of these friendships, and intervene when needed, to ensure employees stay on track and do not allow side conversations about their personal lives consume their work time. Having friends at workplace is both pleasant and productive. When things start to stress you out, it is nice to have someone to turn to. It’s nice to have someone who is watching out for you, and who will stand behind you when you are trying to implement a plan of action. Friends can help you out when you are having a bad day at work and compensate for you. Friends, at work, if properly managed can certainly increase the business productivity.
