You are educated and have many years of job experience. Apparently it seems to be a great qualification for any job. However, if you’re applying for an entry level position, this could leave a negative impression.

When a recruiter checks your resume and goes through the education and past work experience, they will compare it to the job they wish to recruit you for. In case your qualifications are higher than the job requires, they may simply reject you for another employee. The worst part is you won’t even realize why they did not hire you.

The prime reason they won’t hire you is that they know that you expect a job with a better salary and higher job title. The recruiters will obviously want to make sure that the employee stays with the company on a long term basis.

There are lot many reasons why an individual would go for a job with low pay. If you are unemployed, this could be the last resort for you. If you are desperate for a job, you may have to settle for less than what you deserve. With the dwindling economy, the recruiters can understand the reason behind an individual agreeing to accept a low pay. It is recommended that you honestly tell the employers that you are pretty flexible.

You can also modify your resume according to the job profile. Highlight your skills and talents which would matter more for that job. It is absolutely fine if you don’t write your resume in a chronological order. Make sure you don’t highlight the big gaps in your work life. The employers would want to see what you can do for the current position. Be confident and believe in yourself. That would create a good impression on the employers.
