Aluminum Paint is basically a coating material comprising a resin bade filled with solid flecks of aluminum. The resin aides the paint to flow and endows strength while the aluminum flakes give the paint a shiny, silvery finish. However, over time the finish tends to darken due to the effects of the oxidation.
Aluminum paint is used to paint metals, wood and masonry etc. It can be brushed, rolled or sprayed. It can be used both in indoors and over earlier painted objects. Although the paint is generally applied on industrial fixtures, it also used for fine interior work, including furnishings and interior walls. Also, it is used for metal roofing and aluminum siding
Prior to applying aluminum paint, installers should clean the surface first to get rid of grease, dirt and rust. If it is not cleaned up then paint will not stick to the object and will often peel or flake. First ensure that a primer is applied to the surface for painting and the aluminum paint is applied over the top. Given its resinous base, most aluminum paints should dry overnight prior to applying the second coat.
Unlike other paints, aluminum paints are long-lasting and durable and moreover it is highly resistant to rust and corrosion.
Having said that, aluminum also calls for long drying time so the product should not be used in freezing conditions
